It’s that time again!
I am once again participating in the annual Hike-a-Thon for the Washington Trails Association! Last year we raised more than $7700 for our trails! WOW! If you were among my donors-a big thanks once again for your generosity! If you weren’t, please consider helping out this year! And of course if you were a donor, I hope I can count on you once again.
This year I’d like to top last year’s total and raise $8000 for our trails. And as of today on the eve of the start of Hike-a-thon, due to an overwhelming amount of support from y’all, we are at more than $7000! We are on track not only to beat $8,000 but to have an amazing record fundraising event. So please keep up the momentum!
And I will be hiking and running my culo off during the month of August. Last year I tallied 325 miles for the month, spreading the good word about WTA and raising money for our trails. It was my best month ever! This year, despite some new health challenges I am going to try to beat that number (hey, won’t let a little auto immune disease get in my way!). I will be kicking off the event tomorrow with an easy day–then on August 2nd, I along with friend Peter Clitherow will be attempting to complete the 40 mile Timberline Trail around Mount Hood in ONE DAY! If we are successful, it will be my second longest day on the trail. I have been training hard and not letting my polymyalgia rheumatica (which I was diagnosed with this past winter) stop me.
You know how important trails are to our healthy outdoor lives-and you know how underfunded our trails are. And now more than ever during this time of COVID-19 we need trails and open spaces for our mental and spiritual health as well as our physical health. The Washington Trails Association (WTA) is responsible for keeping so many of our trails open and in excellent shape. I am proud to support them, and I hope you are, too.
And I want to REWARD you for helping me—so I am in the process of lining up several opportunities for you to WIN some great PRIZES! Thanks to the great folks at Mountaineers Books, Green Trails Maps, Oboz Footwear, and Browns Outdoor in Port Angeles, I have some great hiker-essential products to give away! And I am working on securing some more prizes-so hang around-details to come. Anyone who makes a donation of $50 or more automatically becomes a member of WTA.
Fifty dollars definitely goes far in this campaign- but every dollar counts and no donation is too small. All are appreciated! Everyone who makes a donation will be entered into a random drawing to win either a pair of Oboz hiking shoes (valued at up to $200) or an Osprey Talon 11 Backpack (Value $120).
I thank you all in advance for your support. Just click this link and make your donation. It’s quick, easy and tax deductible. The process is fast, easy and secure. Thank you so much for your support… and please don’t forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating!
