Save the Whistler Canyon Trailhead!

The Whistler Canyon Trail (Hike no. 2 in my Day Hiking Eastern Washington book) is a gem. Located just south of Oroville, this Okanogan River Valley Trail is part of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail. One of the best places in the state to see California bighorn sheep, this trail also offers stunning valley views, old growth forest and a pretty little waterfall. And it may soon be closed to the public once more! After securing this trailhead and a right of way, the county is auctioning off the parcel that guarantees this access. What a shame! But, there is still time to stop this. But you must act fact. The property goes up for auction this Friday. Please make a donation to the Pacific Northwest Trail Association so that they may buy the property out right and permanently secure access to this trail. I wrote my check! Will you help too? This trail is worth the donation-and any amount will help!
