August was a tough month here in the Northwest with excessive heat, wildfires, and poor air quality. But after a slow start I managed to get in gear and completed my Hike-a-Thon for the Washington Trails Association with 205 miles for the month of August. Three hikes alone accounted for 75 miles as I tried to make up for my slow start!

Most importantly however is that thanks to 60 of you, we raised more than $5000 for the Washington Trails Association, exceeding my goal. A big thanks!!! And now as wildfires continue to wreak havoc on many of our trails, the work of the Washington Trails Association is more important than ever. If you still want to donate-you can-as I am collecting donations until September 8th. Just click this link and make a donation. You still have time to enter the Osprey Atmos Backpack giveaway (just donate $5 or more to be entered). The backpack was generously donated by Brown’s Outdoors in Port Angeles.

It’s too late for the Oboz Shoe giveaway. Jim Ayers will be wearing a new pair of Oboz. He guessed I would do 201 miles this month-coming closes to my 205 mile total. If you donate $50 or more right now, you will still automatically become a member of the Washington Trails Association and I will personally thank you with a specialized Green Trails Map ($16 value).

Once again thanks for all of your support. I love this event and I look forward to doing it all over again next August.

My little assistant accompanied me on several hikes. Here we are at Cama Beach State Park.
